How ABCSpell Works

The following is a general description of how ABCSpell works. For specific instructions on spell checking, refer to Spell Checking A Message.

ABCSpell activates the spell checking buttons and options in Outlook Express, so that you can perform spell checking using familiar Outlook Express controls.

Outlook Express provides three methods of spell checking a message. Two are manual methods and one is automatic. To check spelling in a message manually, you can use either of these options:

·You can click on the spell checking icon in Outlook Express's New Message menu bar as shown (it is the seventh button from the left);

ABC-Run2

-- or --

·You can press the F7 key on your keyboard.

Your application can also be set up to automatically perform a spelling check any time that you click on Send, by setting your spelling options to Always check spellling before sending.

If you choose the automatic method, you do not have to remember to perform a separate step; all messages will be spell checked when you click the Send button.

When either method is used, ABCSpell checks all the message text for errors. Each time ABCSpell detects a spelling error, it opens a dialog box to let you ignore, choose from a list of suggested spellings, or choose to add the word to the custom dictionary.

As well as working through the existing Outlook Express buttons and options, ABCSpell also has its own window for accessing ABCSpell's utilities. It does not need to be open for ABCSpell to perform spell checking. ABCSpell's utilities include activities such as:

·Getting Online Updates and new language dictionaries
·Registering and activating your copy of ABCSpell online
·Getting Product Support assistance, if you encounter a problem.

To open the ABCSpell utilities window, click on the ABCSpell icon on your desktop.
