Spell Checking A Message
Previous  Top  Next

Outlook Express lets you spell check messages either automatically before sending, or manually any time you have the message window open. You can also set your personal preferences in Outlook Express to customize the rules used by ABCSpell. Basic spell checking is done as follows:

To manually check spelling in the body of an e-mail message:

1.Click on the spelling icon in the menu bar of the New Message window (it is the seventh button from the left), or press the F7 key on your keyboard.

ABC-Run2

2.ABCSpell will spell check all the message text. If there are no errors it will display a message to tell you that the spell check is complete. If it finds an error, it will display the Outlook Express Spelling window so that you can correct the error.

Some unusual words or names may be reported as misspelled because they are not in ABCSpell's dictionary. You can add words like this to the custom dictionary so that ABCSpell will no longer question their spelling. To add the word to the custom dictionary, click Add in the Spelling window.

To automatically check spelling whenever you click the Send button:

1.From the menu bar of the Outlook Express main window, select Tools->Options.

2.Click on the Spelling tab.

3.Make sure the box "Always check spelling before sending" is checked.

OE5help
4.Click OK.

This method eliminates the need to ever click the spelling icon, since clicking Send will always cause ABCSpell to perform the spell check.
