Understanding the Auto-Correct Word List

Auto-Correct Word lists let you keep a list of common typographical errors and other misspellings, and have AccuSpell change them to the correct spelling as soon as it detects them. For example, if you often type "hte" when you mean to type "the", you can use an Auto-Correct Word List to quickly change all occurrences of "hte" to "the" as you type. This feature only works as you type text; AccuSpell does not compare words that are already in a document to the Auto-Correct Word List.

 

You can also use Auto-Correct Word lists to change the spelling of words that have more than one correct spelling. For example, "gray" and "grey" are both considered correct spellings of the same word. However, you may prefer to use "grey" and not "gray". Adding these words to an Auto-Correct Word List will change all occurrences of "gray" to your preferred spelling, "grey".

 

Auto-Correct Word lists can be viewed and edited through the My Word Lists tab in the AccuSpell Options Window.

 

 

To disable the the Auto-correct word list from correcting spelling errors, follow these steps:

 

1.Right-click the mouse on the AccuSpell icon in the system tray.

 

2. From the menu, click on Enable Auto Correction so that it is not checked.  (To enable again, click on Enable Auto Correction so that it is checked.)
