Using Custom Dictionaries

Top  Previous  Next

AccuSpell provides three types of custom dictionaries or word lists. They are:

Custom Word ListContains words that are not part of the AccuSpell standard dictionary, but that should not be marked as misspelled (Examples: proper names, technical terms, acronyms, etc.). You can edit AccuSpell's Custom Word List through the My Word Lists tab in the AccuSpell Options Window.

If Microsoft Word or Office is installed,  you can set up AccuSpell to share your existing Word or Office custom dictionary. This option is set by you during installation, and you can change your preference at any time afterwards. If you want AccuSpell to share the Microsoft custom dictionary, you must make any edits to that custom dictionary directly in Microsoft Word or Office.

Excluded Word ListContains words that are found in the AccuSpell standard dictionary, but should nevertheless be marked as errors (for example, alternate spellings of a word such as "gray" and "grey"). You can edit AccuSpell's Excluded Word List through the My Word Lists tab in the AccuSpell Options Window.

Auto-Correct Word ListContains pairs of words in which the first word is an error and the second word is the desired spelling (for example, "dicitonary" and "dictionary". When AccuSpell encounters the first word of the pair, it replaces that word with the second word in the pair. You can edit AccuSpell's Auto-Correct Word List through the My Word Lists tab in the AccuSpell Options Window.
